This New Moon opens the door to the eclipse season and triggers very important processes. It is special for several reasons.
Virgo Energy
First of all, this is not just the beginning of a new lunar cycle, but a rare case when two New Moons occur in the same zodiac sign: the first on August 23 in the first degree, and the second on September 21 in the last degree of Virgo.
That is, we have the opportunity to live the sign of Virgo to the fullest, and I hope to talk about this separately later, because it seems to me that it is extremely important for us right now. Because Virgo is a sign that (at its best) helps you to get your head in order and live life consciously every day, without unnecessary expectations and destructive despondency. That is, it is literally a month in which we can find our own, healthier and more conscious attitude to life.
The First Nudge
Secondly, this New Moon occurs in the first degree of Virgo, just as the Sun enters a new sign. The first degree means beginning, sowing seeds, initiating. And since it is Virgo, it speaks of setting intentions related to practicality, clarity, routine, and responsibility.
It sounds a bit boring, but it’s definitely not!
- The aspect with Uranus adds an element of surprise, disturbance, or sudden realization. Things can change quickly – perspectives, plans, relationships. This is the type of lunar cycle that prompts action, sometimes before we fully realize the consequences.
- So, while Virgo is usually very methodical, this new moon feels more electric, reactive, and potentially inspiring if we stay flexible. Flexibility is one of the most important requirements for the whole next month. Right up until the autumnal equinox.
The Royal Star
Third, this New Moon takes place on the royal star Regulus. This star scales everything: successes and failures, ideas and consequences. Mercury also helps you think big, speak with more confidence than usual, and plan something bold or creative. So it’s really a great time for creative brainstorming and big dreams. Just don’t expect everything to fall into place right away. The idea of this New Moon is to create and develop practical steps, but set yourself up for a long journey. Why?
Because this is only the first of two New Moons in Virgo, remember? So think of it as the first part of a longer process. We don’t need to have the whole picture right here, right now. We just need a starting point. The details will emerge over the course of the month, and in complex issues, at least until spring.
Eclipse Season
So here’s the fourth thing: the eclipse season starts with this New Moon. That is why the topics that appear now can develop and come to a conclusion in the coming months. Moreover, situations that began in the spring of 2025 and fall of 2024 may come to an end over the next month. So it is worth remembering what happened then:
- Were there any topics or processes that you would like to bring to a logical conclusion?
- Is there anything left unfinished or unresolved?
This is a really interesting New Moon, which gives us the opportunity to start something new, finish something old, and most importantly, to live not yesterday or tomorrow, but right here and now.
Wishes for the New Moon
Should we make wishes on this New Moon? Yes, but:
- In addition to big intentions, formulate small steps that can be adapted over time.
- leave room for surprises – it’s good to have a specific desire, but trust the space to help you with it.
- and remember an important feature of the Regulus star: it destroys insidious intentions. This is a noble star with honest motives, so before turning to it, check yourself for sincerity.
Virgo is often considered a sign of perfectionism, but this New Moon does not demand perfection. Rather, it wants us to start from where we are and let things unfold. We don’t have to be perfect. It is enough to be sincere 😊
